Τα τελευταία χρόνια η τέχνη για πολλούς Ρομά και Σίντι έχει εξελιχθεί σε ένα σημαντικό πεδίο διαλόγου για την ταυτότητά τους. Στο πλαίσιο μίας ιδιαίτερα ετερογενούς ομάδας ανθρώπων, η τέχνη οδήγησε και κατέγραψε τα επιτεύγματα ενός πανευρωπαϊκού κινήματος χειραφέτησης, διεκδικώντας και επανασχολιάζοτας την κουλτούρα Ρομανί και ανατρέποντας ρατσιστικά στερεότυπα. Ο Moritz Pankok, επιμελητής της γκαλερί σύγχρονης τέχνης Galerie Kai Dikhas στο Βερολίνο, μιλάει για την δουλειά και την εμπειρία του με πάνω από τριάντα καλλιτέχνες αυτής της μειονότητας.

In recent years art for many Roma and Sinti has become a prominent field for a vivid discourse about their identity. Within a specially heterogenetic group of people, art has driven and documented the achievements of a Europe wide emancipation movement by reclaiming and reassessing Romany culture and subvert racist stereotypes. Moritz Pankok, curator of the first gallery for the contemporary art of Sinti and Roma, Galerie Kai Dikhas in Berlin, speaks of his work and experience working with more than thirty artists of the minority.

Ο Jobst Moritz Pankok είναι Γερμανός σκηνογράφος, σκηνοθέτης, επιμελητής και καλλιτέχνης. Το ενδιαφέρουν πρότζεκτς κοινωνικής εμπλοκής που συχνά συνδέονται με τον πολιτισμό των Ρομά και Σίντι. Είναι καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής και ιδρυτής της Galerie Kai Dikhas (http://www.kaidikhas.com), της πρώτης μόνιμης γκαλερί σύγχρονης τέχνης για καλλιτέχνες Ρομά και Σίντι. Είναι επικεφαλής τoυ θεατρικού συλλόγου „TAK Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg“ και παρουσιάζει, μεταξύ άλλων, διάφορα καλλιτεχνικά πρότζεκτς από τις περιοχές την Βορείου Αφρικής και της Μέσης Ανατολής με τον τίτλο „Spring Lessons“ (http://www.springlessons.org).  Είναι ο συνιδρυτής της ομάδας „Artvists 4 Change“ και συνεπικεφαλής του κληροδοτήματος „Otto- Pankok-Art“, το οποίο λειτουργεί το Μουσείο „Otto-Pankok”.

Jobst Moritz Pankok is a German scenographer, director, curator and fine artist. He is interested in socially engaging art projects very often linked to the culture of Sinti and Roma. He is artistic director and founder of the first permanent gallery for the contemporary art of Sinti and Roma, called Galerie Kai Dikhas – Place To See in Berlin. (http://www.kaidikhas.com) He is head of the theatre association „TAK Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg“ presenting amongst others various art projects from the MENA region under the title „Spring Lessons“ ( http://www.springlessons.org ), co-founder of the group „Artvists 4 Change“ and co-chair of the „Otto- Pankok-Art Foundation“ running the “Otto-Pankok-Museum“.
